Refund & Cancellation Policy · LessonSmith
This policy explains how billing, renewals, cancellations and refunds work for LessonSmith subscriptions (Pro and Max). The Free tier and the demo have no charge, so nothing here applies to either.
1. What we show you before you pay
Before checkout we show you the plan, price, currency and billing frequency (monthly or yearly), and that card subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. By completing checkout you confirm you have seen these terms.
2. How to cancel
Every paid plan is a card subscription, so this applies to all of them. Turn off auto-renew or cancel at any time, from the Subscription window in the app or in the Polar customer portal. Your plan stays active until the end of the current paid period, then stops renewing. There is no cancellation fee.
School plans. The school is the customer, so only a school administrator can cancel, from the plan section of their own LessonSmith account. Cancelling stops the renewal and nothing else: every covered teacher keeps their access to the end of the period the school has already paid for, and then returns to the Free plan. Removing a single teacher from the plan is not a cancellation and is not refunded — the seat can be given to someone else for the rest of the period. A teacher covered by a school plan has nothing to cancel and is never charged.
3. Refunds
Polar is the merchant of record for every LessonSmith purchase, which means Polar is legally the seller to you and handles the payment, the tax and the refund. Polar's own buyer terms apply alongside this policy, and where they give you more than this policy does, Polar's terms win.
- Subscription periods that have already started are not refundable pro rata, and annual plans are not refunded for the unused part of the year, except where a refund is required by law or where we grant one.
- School plans. A school plan is a negotiated annual agreement between us and a school, not a consumer purchase, so a consumer right of withdrawal does not apply to it. It is not refunded pro rata for the unused part of the year, for seats a school did not end up using, or for teachers who left part-way through. If a school needs a different number of seats, email us and we will agree it for the next period.
- Mandatory consumer rights. If you are in a jurisdiction with statutory cooling-off or refund rights, those rights apply regardless of the paragraph above. Nothing in this policy removes any statutory right you have under the consumer law of your country of residence.
- Discretionary refunds. If the Service did not work, if you were charged twice, or if you were charged after cancelling, contact us and we will put it right. We would rather refund you than argue about it.
4. Failed, duplicate or disputed charges
- Double or duplicate charge: we will not double-apply a payment. Contact us and we will correct it.
- Chargebacks: please contact us first, because most problems get sorted faster that way. Abusive chargebacks may lead to account suspension (see Terms Section 10).
5. How to request a refund or report a billing problem
Email support@lessonsmith.ai with your account email and plan. We aim to respond within 5 business days.
6. Changes
We may update this policy, and we will revise the effective date above. Changes apply to future purchases and renewals.
