LessonSmith is an AI lesson plan generator for teachers. Set your curriculum and class level once, add the lesson's date and a few notes on what it should cover, and it writes a complete lesson plan that you can edit, save and export to Word or PDF.

What does a LessonSmith lesson plan include?
Ten sections, under a title taken from the sub-strand or topic and a line giving the subject, grade, term and date.

If your school's form uses other headings, such as learning objectives instead of specific learning outcomes, rename them once in Settings and the plans you make after that use your words.
What do I need to enter?
Only the notes are required: a sentence or more on what the lesson should cover. The other details are optional and print in the header of the Word and PDF files: teacher, registration number, roll, grade, term, date, time, year, strand and sub-strand.
The registration field follows your system, such as the TSC number in Kenya or the SACE number in South Africa, and is left out where a system has none. Auto-fill carries the details you choose over to the next lesson, so a teacher with one class types them once.
Which curricula and languages does it cover?
It drafts for 11 curricula, each with its own levels, subjects and exam names. Each one has a page of its own:

The app runs in 9 languages: English, Kiswahili, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch and Russian. Plans are written in the language the app is set to.
How does it adapt a plan for learners who need support?
Pick the needs in your class from a list of ten, such as hearing impairment, autism, a learning difficulty or learning in a new language. The differentiation section then gives one adaptation for each: a change to how the content is presented, how the learner responds, where they work or how much time they get, plus a line for learners who finish early.
Each adaptation is written to align with your curriculum's own policy, such as SIAS in South Africa or the graduated approach in England. For a whole plan about one learner, LessonSmith has a separate support plan tool, which drafts an IEP in Kenya, an Individual Support Plan in South Africa and a SEN Support plan in England.
Can it plan to my term calendar?
Yes. Set your term dates, mid-term break, exam weeks and teaching days once in the term calendar. Pick a day and choose Generate plan for this day: the generator opens with that date filled in, and the finished plan is saved back onto the calendar, where the day shows its topic.
If you have saved a scheme of work, turn on the scheme link in Settings and pick the scheme, and each lesson follows its strand, sub-strand and outcomes. The scheme of work generator drafts that scheme for the whole term.
Can I change how the plan looks?
Yes. Settings, then Document format, sets the typeface, text size, heading style and line spacing, and lets you reorder, rename, hide or add sections. Reflection is the one section you cannot hide. The preview, the Word file and the PDF all follow the same settings.

Can I edit the plan after it is written?
Yes. Click into any section and type, or ask for a change in plain words, such as making it 40 minutes or adding more group work, and LessonSmith rewrites the plan. Every plan saves to your library, and a rewrite keeps up to five earlier versions.
How many lesson plans can I make?
The demo gives 100, once. Pro gives 40 a month and Max gives 80 a month, and both counts start again on the monthly anniversary of your subscription.
Is a LessonSmith lesson plan approved by my ministry?
No. LessonSmith is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any ministry, examination board or curriculum authority. Treat each plan as a draft and check it against your curriculum before you teach it.
