LessonSmith is an AI lesson plan generator and scheme of work generator for teachers. A teacher sets their curriculum, class level and term dates once, and it drafts lesson plans, term-long schemes of work and support plans for individual learners. Everything saves to the teacher's library and exports to Word or PDF, and lesson plans can also be edited in place.

Who makes LessonSmith?
Ryan Mwangi founded LessonSmith and builds it in Nairobi, Kenya. The product is operated and sold by VoussoirAI, which is also based in Nairobi.

LessonSmith went live at lessonsmith.ai in July 2026. Paid plans are billed through Polar, the merchant of record, in US dollars or Kenyan shillings.
Which AI models does LessonSmith use?
OpenAI's GPT-4o-mini drafts every plan, and Google's Gemini Flash Lite takes over when GPT-4o-mini is unavailable. The API keys are held on LessonSmith's servers and never sent to the browser. Output can be wrong, so teachers are expected to read and correct every plan before they teach it.
Which curricula and languages does it cover?
It drafts for 11 curricula: CBC/CBE (Kenya), NERDC (Nigeria), CAPS (South Africa), the standards-based curriculum (Ghana), the National Curriculum (England), Common Core and NGSS (United States), CBSE and NCERT (India), the Australian Curriculum, FGOS/FOP (Russia), the International Baccalaureate, and Cambridge International. The app runs in 9 languages (English, Kiswahili, French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian, Dutch and Russian), and plans are written in the language the app is set to.
LessonSmith is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or certified by any ministry, examination board or curriculum authority. Each curriculum has its own page under curricula.
Is LessonSmith connected to lessonsmith.org or lessonsmith.com?
No. This LessonSmith lives at lessonsmith.ai and has no connection to lessonsmith.org (a separate learning platform), lessonsmith.com (a domain listed for sale), the Lessonsmith course builder at lessonsmith-khaki.vercel.app, or the mesmundo/lessonsmith repository on GitHub.
