This policy lists what LessonSmith stores on your device, in cookies and in browser local storage, what each item is for, and how you can control it. The tables below were checked against the running application on 2026-07-27.
1. What these are
Cookies are small files stored on your device and sent back to us with each request. Browser local storage works similarly but stays on your device and is never sent to us automatically. It is where the app keeps your saved plans and settings. We use both to keep you signed in, run the service securely, remember your preferences, and understand which features get used.
2. Before you accept anything
If you have only visited our public pages and have not signed in or accepted our policies, we set no analytics cookie and no analytics storage. Analytics do not start until the acceptance described in Section 4.

Earlier versions of the app stored data under ocula- and sow- prefixes. If those keys are present we copy them once to the lessonsmith- names above so that upgrading users keep their work, and we do not write to them again.
4. Analytics and your choices
We use PostHog to count page views and understand which features get used. It is configured on PostHog's EU instance. It does not record sessions, does not capture clicks automatically, and masks page text before anything is sent, because this product's pages can contain lesson content.
- Analytics start only after you accept. PostHog is not loaded, and sets nothing, until you have accepted the Terms and Privacy Policy on first entering the app.
- There is no separate analytics switch yet. Accepting those policies is currently what enables analytics; we do not yet offer a control that lets you keep using LessonSmith with analytics turned off. Until we do, the browser controls below are the way to refuse them, and you can object at any time by emailing privacy@lessonsmith.ai.
- Browser controls. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking the necessary cookies above will break sign-in and the consent record.
We do not use cookies for advertising or for cross-site behavioural tracking, and we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
5. Payment
Checkout happens on Polar's own pages. Polar sets its own cookies there, governed by Polar's cookie policy, not this one. We do not set payment cookies on LessonSmith.
6. Changes
We may update this policy as what we store changes, and we will revise the effective date above. We re-check these tables against the running application whenever we add or remove a provider.
