CBC / CBE schemes of work
Kenya's Competency-Based Curriculum, developed by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, organises learning around competencies and strands rather than a list of topics alone. It is set by KICD.
LessonSmith drafts a CBC / CBE scheme of work for a whole term in Kenya, laid out against the dates you actually teach. If you need one lesson rather than a term, that is on the CBC / CBE lesson plans page.
Start from your term, not a generic one
Set the term start and end, the mid-term break, exam weeks and the days you teach. The scheme of work is then drafted week by week against that calendar, so week six is the week you will actually be teaching in week six rather than the sixth row of a template.
Work from your own syllabus
Upload your syllabus as a PDF and the draft follows it more closely than it can from the curriculum name alone. Without one it still drafts a full term from the subject and class level, and you correct it from there.
Edit it, then keep it
Click any week to edit it, or describe a change in plain language and it adjusts the rest. Export to Word or PDF when it says what you want it to say. Every scheme of work is saved to your library, so next year you adapt this one rather than start again.
What LessonSmith is not
It is not official. LessonSmith is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or certified by any government, ministry, examination board or curriculum authority. Curriculum names describe what a generation is drafted to align with; the marks belong to their owners.
Everything it produces is a draft. It can be wrong, and you are the one who knows your class, so read it and correct it before you teach it.
Questions
Can LessonSmith write a CBC / CBE scheme of work?
Yes. Set your term dates once, then choose the subject and class level. The scheme of work designer drafts the term week by week against your calendar, and you edit any week before you use it.
Does it follow my school's term dates?
Yes, and that is the point of doing it here rather than from a generic template. Enter the term start and end, the mid-term break, exam weeks and the days you actually teach, and the weeks are laid out against those dates rather than an assumed thirteen.
Can I use my own syllabus?
Yes. Upload the syllabus as a PDF and the draft follows it more closely than it can from the curriculum name alone.
Is this an official KICD document?
No. LessonSmith is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or certified by any government, ministry, examination board or curriculum authority. The scheme of work it drafts is a draft, and you are responsible for checking it before you use it.
